Teeth Whitening

A fantastic smile is a sure-fire way of making an excellent first impression but a lot of people suffer from stained teeth that can make them feel self-conscious. Discoloured teeth can be caused by several different factors including age, food and drinks such as red wine and curry, smoking, damage to the tooth root, smoking and, of course, poor oral hygiene.

We offer affordable treatments that can either be administered in our practice or you can do yourself at home in the form of kits. These treatments only work on a natural tooth surface, so if you have any form of crown, veneer or dentures we will discuss the best way to work around this at your whitening consultation. If the staining is resistant to whitening treatments, it may be recommended that you are fitted with dental veneers instead.

One of the systems that Hayes Dental Clinic uses is the Enlighten B1 advanced teeth whitening system as we are one of their accredited tooth whitening centres. This involves your dentist fitting you for whitening trays and using a desensitising serum before the whitening process commences. Your dentist will then ensure the trays fit correctly and show you the right way to apply the whitening gel. After you have applied this whitening gel for 14 days, your dentist will perform a final 40 minute whitening treatment in the practice followed by an assessment and maintenance.

We can also provide the DayWhite and NiteWhite at-home whitening kit which you can use for 7 to 14 days, depending on the results you require. It is the only at-home whitening treatment that contains amorphous calcium phosphate and therefore protects your tooth enamel, improves your teeth’s overall surface appearance and reduces sensitivity.

Some shop-bought whitening treatments can be ineffective or detrimental to your enamel but the DayWhite and NiteWhite systems are dentist approved and supervised and the trays can be custom-fit to provide the best results.

If you maintain a good oral health routine, the results can last for years but bear in mind that the whitening gel can cause pain if it leaks into any untreated decay fissures so you will require a thorough examination to assess your suitability for the treatment.
